Our annual family and friends garden party, something we've done for 25 or so years. What was really evident this year was that the adult 'university friends' present were mostly of the next generation, and it was great to meet them.

Great fun was had with the garden-sized Jenga, and the younger-again generation had great fun with a paddling pool and a large pile of cardboard boxes - which were variously towers, monsters, trains and very-soggy-when-put-in-the-paddling-pool.

Talking of trains, John came and ran a couple of his steamers this afternoon and I ran mine later on.

Those left, warmed themselves by the fire at the end of the evening.

An excellent day.
