Sgwarnog: In the Field

Berry

There are a few of these small, flowering trees dotted about the moor among the rowan and alder. I think it’s one of the Amelanchier, known as Juneberry or Serviceberry, but am happy to be otherwise advised. With their distinctive flowers, this is the easiest time of the year to spot them. This one is on Moorside.

I was a little guilty of being ruled by the weather forecast. Expecting a day of rain, which never really arrived,  I didn’t plan a trip out, and spent much of the day indoors trying to get a bag of old photo wallets, prints and negatives in some sort of order. I was reminded that there was a time, either side of the millennium, where I had two cameras on the go at the same time: a compact 35mm and a simple Pentax SLR. This means that for many trips/events I have photos mid-way through two different rolls of film. At some point, when I was compiling albums, I grouped the prints together, but now I’m trying to match them up with the right set of negatives. I may produce some archive blips out of the process, although the challenge in most cases is putting a specific date to an image.
