BUMBLING ABOUT
I dropped off four boxes of old books at the secondhand bookshop then headed for the dunes and a longish walk on the beach until my knee and feet protested too much. I was surprised to see a pair of great crested grebes swimming and diving beyond the beach in the Tees Estuary. I've always assumed they were freshwater birds because that's where I've see them, but apparently not. One of them in first extra. Second extra is a pheasant being chased off by lapwings, probably because it got too close to their nest. It was just a quick shot taken through a fence, and I've blipped the same thing happening before, but I was pleased to be there at the right time.
