Fraud

Leo keeping a watchful eye.

Over lunch with friends today in the Red Herring, a new restaurant in Bridge of Allan , which I regret to say after my third visit I would not recommend, which is a shame.
The locality is great in the centre of town, the ambience is good (if you ignore the giant tv screen), and the staff are friendly and helpful but the menu…oh dear. I settled for soup and smoked salmon and coffee at least with two starters I reckoned they couldn’t go wrong.
M had bruschetta.  We were horrified. It looked like cat sick. They took it away and apologised and produced another plate of smoked salmon. In the end we all had smoked salmon, declaring there was nothing else on the menu we could eat.

But I digress. The main topic of conversation was fraud. Online fraud. Most of us have been conned at some stage. It’s easy pickings for criminals these days. They no longer have to break into houses. They can sit in front of their computers and work from home, not even in this country.

Yes, I have been subjected to a scam from a company in Cyprus, Technitpro.com. , claiming to offer technical services for £49.99 a month. Well, I certainly did not sign up for that.

Today I got my money back -£100 -but it involved going into the bank in Stirling who seemed to have a hotline to the fraud squad.  Better still It was a relief to speak to a real person.
