Desperately Seeking Summer

At least a few of the blooms in my garden are hanging on precariously to the beautiful season. Cold and rain today.

Overslept terribly after a very late party last night. Still mustered the kids together for a near mid-day breakfast, but the boys protested eating on the terrace as it was too cold. I persisted and prevailed, refusing to succumb to nature's threats of early autumn.

Spent the afternoon setting up a new laptop. Not thrilled with Windows 8 :( Still lots to restore/install but suspended the work til later in the week, as we had plans to barbecue with friends this evening. Again, I insisted we stay outside and most of the evening it was dry, although cool. By time we cleared the dishes and dealt the cards, I was glad we had a new awning which protected us from most of the precipitation and permitted us to play outdoors.

Now the weekend, like summer it seems, is drawing to a close and tomorrow the weekday rat-race resumes.
