Light, Space, and the Shape of Time

In the 1960s, California Light and Space artists began using new materials like plastic, glass, and neon lights to explore how we see and experience the world.

Enter an all-white room, sit on a white bench facing the orb. The light slowly darkens until the piece disappears...gradually the light returns.  Very meditative. The experience makes an ethereal subject come alive.
~ Cindy and I sit opposite the paper piece; we are looking through and being reflected at the same time. The gentleman stands near the paper piece.  Part of him disappears though the large plates of glass are evenly tinted.
~ This piece reminded me of Mark Rothko's abstractions, though again, the intensity of the light was ever-changing.
