Flaming torch bromeliad

I love these, but never more than this year. In the past the blooms have come out in succession but this year we have five all out in one patch. They make a stunning display, especially when backlit by the low, filtered autumn sun.

On this glorious Good Friday we walked the several kms to the Cooks River and along it for a distance, then crossed it and walked back to the highway. In parts one passes by riverfront houses and gardens, some of which had similarly beautiful patches of flaming torch bromeliads. 

So far today I have done more than 13,000 steps. I really wanted to do this walk to exercise the new fake hip and see how it was going. Still some healing to go but heading in the right direction.
