The Pensioner

Over to tidy that boat up and attend to some last minute tasks though I have an extra 24 hours as lift in has been delayed to let a bit of gusty weather pass through. The engine bursts into life which always fills me with joy. And then, just leaving, I realise the seacocks in the heads aren’t quite as they should be. OK, they’re jammed solid. A job for tomorrow then.
For I’d something else preying on my mind – this Canadian jaunt. We’ve flights out but no returns. And when I check hire cars I realise that dropping off at other than your pickup point adds hundreds and hundreds of pounds to the bill. As does flying back from Montreal via Toronto. Nothing for it but to juggle that itinerary about. Quebec is as far as we’ll go.
And then to Everyman to see Coastal, the film of Neil Young’s 2023 tour. First the good news for Glastonbury – Neil still has it; on stage he’s as mesmerising and in as good a voice as ever. The bad news, the rest of the film is a tedious bore for which we can blame his wife Daryl Hannah who "directed" it. Sub-home movie dreck.
