Musical Twinning
Cockermouth and Marvejols (France) have been very successfully twinned for 25 years. To celebrate Marvejols sent over a choir and a group of saxophonists to join with our local choirs Sing Owt and Wild Chorus, under Dave Camlin.
It was an amazing evening of beautiful music from many countries. I had expected the Saxophones - there were about 15 of them - would play Jazz or Blues but they played Classical French music. There was a depth and mellowness to the tone that I hadn't heard before. These are two of the 'jolies filles talentueuses'.
I realised sadly that, not having been anywhere near a French speaker since long before covid, I am pretty much limited to google translate.
