Cairn Lodge Cake

I’ve often hankered after a cake from the Cairn Lodge patisserie but held back because of the cost. Today I treated us but am sad to say it didn’t taste as good as it looked and was a bit dry. Maybe I picked the wrong thing.

We got up at a ridiculous 1am and were on the road by 1:30, getting to Cairn Lodge for a 7:30am breakfast and to the house by 11:30am. It was a good strategy and we missed the later reported tailbacks on the A66, but we arrived home exhausted and S. slept the whole afternoon whilst I did not much. Unfortunately bucketing rain.
