Good News On Good Friday

I was so pleased to see this blue tit this morning. It had a juicy caterpillar in its beak and disappeared into the nest box that my nephew made. Silly me, I was thinking that the sparrowhawk had taken the birds as all was quiet. The reason there's not much activity I think is because she's sitting. She'll pop out now and again to get food for herself but when the male finds a nice tasty titbit he'll present it to her. I saw her return to the box this afternoon.

As it is Good Friday and a good news day for birds, I decided to open the Bird in Hand sparkling Pinot Noir from Australia that my daughter gave me on Mothering Sunday. It's prettily pink and went perfectly with the Patagonian scallops that I had for dinner. Ollie dog used to love these and Mish does too. I appreciate them all the more since I've watched Patagonia: Earth's Secret Paradise on the BBC.
