Just what the doctor ordered
I have had a Do-ing Day. Many things have been started, and some even completed.
First job was to peel, core and slice apples and put them into the dehydrator for the day.
Taking advantage of a day of warm sunshine (sandwiched between many cooler damp ones) I caught up with the washing and hung it out to dry.
Bean and I walked to Paradise Gully Road after a quick brunch. And then it was time to start this weekend's cheese. It is my first attempt at a Dorset Blue Vinney, using a recipe from the 19th Century. Fingers crossed...
While the curds were setting there was plenty of time to put clean sheets on the bed, and to bravely tackle a reset of the old, dumb television.
A new satellite took over our free-to-air tv channels last weekend, at which point I promptly lost several of them. It would not normally have been something I would have been bothered about, but one of those that disappeared was Al Jazeera, which is one of only two channels I check regularly.
Using an online "how to" guide I girded my loins and wiped the tv of everything, then followed the instructions ... lo and behold it reset itself perfectly.
I had one of those Superwoman moments: I can do anything. I am invincible.
Back to the cheese for some faffing. Then while the curds were 'pitching' (firming up and increasing in acidity) I got on with cutting out a new pair of gardening pants from the never-ending supply of linen bedsheets. The cheese alarm went off later, just as I pinned the side seams together. I will return to (and finish) the trousers tomorrow (when it will be raining).
After more faffing with the cheese it was time to get the washing in, fold it and put it away; collect the day's eggs; reset the possum trap (which went off in the night without catching one); close the tunnel house; put the cheese in the press for the night; feed Bean; plan supper...
I'm pooped. A good day.
