Jocasta

Mum have bought us some gift tickets for a Play a Pie and a Pint at Christmas, so today we redeemed them.  The play was Jocasta; a one-woman telling of the Oedipus story from the perspective of Oedipus' mum/wife who has to tell her story to the Gods to pass into the afterlife.  It was very good, if a little dark as you might expect from that particular.

En route to the play we noticed a pastel de nata shop that somehow we'd missed before on Byres Road, got one each and then went back after the play to get one of each.  Pretty good.  P also got some weird beers from the weird beer shop (banana and fig gelato being one).  They had some seriously strong beers, including a creme egg flavoured one.  Sounds interesting...

We went home via the garden centre for some netting in an attempt to stop the bird from eating the cherries as the tree is just starting to blossom. The nice guy there gave us what was probably an extra half a meter for free.  There's this weird phenomena where near us there are many garden centres, however most are more like visitors centers than actual garden centres and the Dobbies one is actually the best for plants and related things. The Dobbies one is also always the least busy, which makes me think that the good people of Lanarkshire don't actually like garden centres for garden centre things.

Watched 'The Last Duel' this evening which was again good but also grim.  Blip is of the Oran Mor tower, host to a Play a Pie and a Pint along with it's fallen halo.
