EASTER SUNDAY!

ALLELULIA - CHRIST IS RISEN!

After another restless night
     with hardly any sleep
          we got up and went out
into the cool air
     of the early morning
          taking the spices and perfume
we had prepared
     to anoint the broken body
          of our beloved friend, Jesus.

The sun was just rising and
     on the way to the tomb
          we were chatting amongst ourselves
and wondering how we would
     move the huge stone
          away from the entrance -
but when we arrived
     we were surprised to see that
          it had been rolled back -
so we looked inside and
     were surprised to see
          the grave clothes folded
but there was no body!

We were startled, confused and
     quite frightened because
          there was a light inside the tomb
that dazzled and almost blinded us.

I’ve never seen an angel
     but the person dressed in white
          looked just like
               I imagined one to be.
He told us that Jesus had risen
     and not to be afraid -
          but to go back and
tell the disciples what we had seen.

Well, knowing those men as we do,
     we doubted they would
          believe us but
               decided to go anyway.

I know one thing for certain -
     this will turn our world
