Sea of Heather
The family went off today to meet up with friends further north and so the dogs and I had a day to ourselves. The morning was very wet but the forecast for the afternoon was better so I set off with a rucksack full of waterproof gear and dog biscuits and made for the hills again. The contrast from yesterday was marked as the cloud base was really low and pockets were catching in the valleys indicating the contours very well. Unfortunately, although i tried to capture the atmosphere, the mistiness made it difficult for the camera to focus properly. The greyness about me, however, really served to highlight the sea of heather which appears to be in flower a little earlier this year. The purple haze spread as far as the eye could see and only ended under the tree canopy where mounds of blaeberry bushes flourished. As you can see the clumps of heather were quite deep and Bruce made a very comical sight as he bounced up and down amongst them.
