Anything to break the mahogany
Time to laze around on the settee for a day, do a bit of online window-shopping, catch up on a few YouTube videos … but not all day! I actually wanted to attend to a slightly sticky front brake on my mountain bike: I've hardly ridden it since last summer.
Somehow though the first thing was to get the chisels out and go at the pieces of mahogany I acquired yesterday, scraping off the lumps of glue and tidying them up a bit. That took a while, but it was nice working away in the sunshine. My old Stormont chisel that cut the majority of the mortises for the workbench proved the best of the bunch for the task.
I took my time sorting the brake on my bike, pumping out the pistons to clean them, realigning the caliper, and running some new fluid through and bleeding them nicely. Somehow fixing the brake morphed into replacing the rear derailleur whose cable adjuster seems to have mysteriously stripped all its threads, and somehow replacing the rear derailleur morphed into adjusting the front derailleur too. It was all fun and games though and took until gone teatime, so it was just soup and yoghurt for tea and the latest from Auto Shenanigans.
