Cherry and Almond Cake

Apparently it's cherry and almond NOT almond and cherry. I made it from my great-grandmother's recipe (without a method). No, I don't know what difference it makes either; I just know that all the cherries seemed to clump together in the middle (though didn't sink) and that it tasted very nice!
