Perhaps unleashing the dogs of war

Today I visited Gosford House, a huge pile of stone roughly half-way between Longniddry and Gullane, (East Lothian), just outside of Edinburgh.

I have long wanted to see it, as part of it is designed by the great enlightenment architect Robert Adam. It is however, seldom open to the public, as the owner, who does not live in Scotland, still maintains it as a private residence for occasional use.

I note that they have begun to rent out parts of it for weddings and similar events now.

I found it to be a very depressing place.
