BVM

Running late! A big day out in the field yesterday with Himself and Finola. We started off in traditional fashion with coffee and buns at Mannings then headed off to the Beara Peninsula - this is a mighty craggy finger of land, wild and untamed with a scattering of villages and plenty of interesting sites to visit. We had holy wells, standing stones and stained glass on the agenda and were not disappointed. Our jaws did drop at one newly renovated well and I shall say no more about that! We ended up in Eyeries, probably the most colourful village in Ireland. It's a delight and we were pleased to note that even in the estate of new houses, each was painted a different colour. I couldn't resist this rich pink house with a BVM in the window - sadly empty as many of the traditional houses were in the main street. We enjoyed and ice creams here and then decided to come back over the Healy Pass - a crazy bit of road which zigzags its way over a mountain which separates Kerry from Cork. The views are incredible but we returned back in Bantry like the walking wounded - me feeling car sick and regretting the ice cream, Himself’s back and hips killing him and Finola wrecked from having done most of the driving. A great day out!
It was beans on toast and a bath after all that. Then we had a power cut just as we were in bed  - extraordinary how dark and quiet it can be with no electricity anywhere!

Lots of extras which will be going shortly and I shall cheat a bit later on today (Monday) with the stained glass which blew our minds,
