Nobbys

I was late getting out for a blip so the sun had well and truly set by the time I got to Nobbys.  Nobby's Headland (where the signal house and lighthouse are) was once an island and a bit higher than it is currently.  The early colonists in order to aid ships coming into the harbour blew it's top off and created Macquarie pier connecting it to the island thus creating some protection to the entrance to the harbour.  Over time, the beach formed and therefore is sort of reclaimed.

In the foreground you can see the Pasha Bulker sculpture.   The end bit of it is reclaimed from the ship that ran aground there 18 years ago next June.  Gee time flies.

Thanks for hosting Apollofly.
