Easter Monday

Easter Monday has been notable in many ways. This morning the death of Pope Francis was announced. A genuinely good man. Plymouth Argyle had a 3.1 win against Coventry City, so avoiding certain relegation. Both Coventry and Plymouth were very heavily bombed during the second World War. Also today Plymouth made the national news after a burst water main left 13,000 people with limited or no water. Although we live within one of the postcode areas affected we were fortunate to avoid any supply problems. As we headed out to the moors though we saw queuing traffic for one of the bottled water distribution centres.
Last night Wembury and Plymouth Sound were the setting for BBC Countryfile. Made me feel proud of the area where I live!
Todays’s extras show highlights of our morning. At Buckland Abbey their is a building used for meditation and Yoga. The outside is covered with blue wisteria flowers and inside is a Buddhist figure. In an area of the nearby Wild Garden the bendy path and trees seem to mirror the Buddhist theme and hours of contemplation of the monks who built the Abbey and devoted their lived here to God.
In the Kitchen Garden some unusual tulips planted amongst the rhubarb!
Colourful apple blossom adorned the trees around the estate and against the ancient stone walls the blue flowers of Green Alkanet.
Finally, we drove home via Cadover Bridge (main blip photo). Here the River Plym attracts sand martins. Mesmerising to watch them wheeling and circling over the water, with the bright yellow gorse as a backdrop.
