The return.

There is a strange setup at Maputo Airport because of the way the flight to Dar es Salaam is organised. You can go via the domestic terminal because it stops in northern Mozambique before exiting the country, or you can go as I did, as default via the international terminal. We were a grand total of three passengers and I thought I’d missed it. But no, we were ferried over in an empty bus like VIPs to merge with those from the domestic terminal. Odd.

I was tired all day because of the early start but also in good spirits because four weeks in Maputo have been good for the mind. Some Mozambican colleagues have also travelled to Dar es Salaam today via a different route as we have a workshop starting tomorrow. They were stumped with lost baggage and navigating the logistics of the city, which is a different kettle of fish to Maputo. Bigger and more overwhelming. So I took them for food by the beach and gave them a taste of Indian Ocean life in the next country up.
