Oregon grape is a native shrub in BC. There will be berries in the summer, edible but quite sour.
Broom is an invasive species that was intentionally introduced to B.C. in 1850 by Captain Walter Grant, a Scot, who planted broom at his farm on Vancouver Island. It has spread to many parts of the province and is plentiful on this island.
Happy Earth Day! The theme for this year is “Our Power, Our Planet" to encourage collective action to boost renewable energy and clean electricity by 2030. We need governments and corporations everywhere to get on board!
