Kauri Gum

It’s a fossilized resin from the Kauri Tree (a NZ native tree).  It’s a sticky substance that oozes from the tree bark and hardens.  The gum was collected and exported to be used to make varnish. There is very little gum left to be found anymore. I was given a few pieces by a friend whose father was a gum digger.,
Extra: a small bowl of gum
