A place to sit
Thought I would blip a view of the River Alne as it was when I crossed over it on my jog this morning .
The little bench gets lost under water when the river floods, but it’s quite low at the moment.
The lovely apple tree overhanging the water is a riot of blossom and will be laden with fairly inedible apples in autumn.
There are kingfishers and even otters at this spot, though you rarely see either. It’s a clean river too with fresh water mussels. You often find their shells, the contents probably having been eaten by otters.
The little seat looks a tranquil spot but faces the bridge where I’m standing to take the photo, which isn’t ridiculously busy but does have a fair bit of traffic over it.
On the opposite bank are private fishing platforms where competitive fishing takes place during the season.
When the meadow behind the bench grows up in the summer it is alive with butterflies , dragonflies and damsel flies.
And that’s a little corner of our village.
