Hermitage of Braid

A dull day, and rain is forecast for most of the day. Easter Monday, thanks to the Presbyterians, is a lesser public holiday in Scotland. I normally work, but the client I currently do work for is based in England, so is shut. I go a quick walk around the park in dry conditions after coffee. There is a little bit of rain after morning coffee, but nothing significant.

After lunch, partner and I decide to go for a walk, but use terrain to avoid any possible heavy rain. We follow a path beside the Braid burn, which takes us past the Hermitage of Braid pictured above. The rain is holding off as we walk through the narrow steep sided valley formed in the last ice age when the Water of Leith flowed this way. The valley is lined by trees, some of which are over 40m, 130ft, tall. Once through the valley, the vistas open out on farmland to the south. Sheltering under a bush are a few blacks sheep, Extra. Not sure why, the sun isn't shining, and the rain is just spits and spots. So probably just chilling out, which sheep can do so well. At Liberton, we head to  the Cameron Toll shopping centre for a bit of window shopping and afternoon coffee and cake. Bus home. We are quite pleased we ignored the forecast and had a great day out.
