Happy birthday George!

Our eldest grandchild, George, is 9 today! He was carefully planned to arrive on St George’s Day and happily obliged! It was so lovely to see him at the weekend, he’s really bright and interested in wildlife, particularly when grandad is there to help him. We gave him a Bee Hotel kit to build, and I see that his parents have given him the illustrated Harry Potter books, which he will delight in. They are moving house again this summer, this time to somewhere a little easier for us to visit, as it is Gloucester. We always stop there on the way to Devon , so now there will be even more reason!
This afternoon we had a visit to Brigsteer Woods. The Merlin app picked up a bittern for us to listen out for, and we heard it several times. The herons were busy, but not a single swallow or house Martin to be seen. I do hope they arrive soon.
