More babies! Now!
This one hits close to home as we are newly minted grandparents….
The regime apparently is looking at how it might encourage women to have more children (aside from restricting or banning abortions altogether). Incentives include cash rewards, medals and other honorific attributions. Does that sound familiar at all? It should: Nazis implemented such schemes, as did Stalin, and, wouldn’t you know it: Putin (our Dear Leader’s handler). Helpful programs that "educate women on their menstrual cycles — in part so they can better understand when they are ovulating and able to conceive” are also being mulled over, no doubt by a bunch of white men in dark rooms…
All this from the party that historically blocked: paid family, sick and medical leave, universal childcare and pre-k, expanding child tax credit, and programs that support reproductive health… among other such details. But I digress…
Luminaries such as Muskrat have declared that it is for the good of humanity to increase the population.
There is some logical backing to those positions (economic and social given the aging of the population in many parts of the world).
But… wait for it… these “incentives would apply to particular ethnic segments of the population (I’ll let you guess which) and to “useful” babies (this now also explains my earlier post on the regime’s attitude towards neurodivergent people. And btw, there will now be a database of such people full of what used to be private medical and personal data…)
Anyways, in Muskrat’s own words: “we need to seed the earth with more intelligent human beings,” and he sees his own actions as contributing to this goal. This is the same guy who declared his trans daughter dead and who selectively ‘edits’ fetuses. I bet he couldn’t say how many kids he has with the many women who now live in a compound he built for them. He did show up in the Oval Office with one young boy during one of tRump’s pressers, but then was shown as ‘forgetting’ the same kids on the steps of his plane as he deboarded and moved on without the kid…
I feel like I am actually living in the movie Idiocracy. when that movie first came out (in the 90s I think?) I thought its premises were so ridiculous as to make the movie one of the stupidest I’d ever seen. Little did I know it was prescient…
