Wild Arum
There are hundreds of these plants shooting up in the hedgerows and woodlands at the moment…most of them are still tightly curled and like spears emerging from the ground.
For a few of them, the spathe (the big green leaf like ‘wrapper’) has opened and for even fewer the spadix has begun to turn brown like this one.
It is also known as cuckoo pint, lords and ladies - and several other names!
Morning coffee meet up with daughter - our regular(ish) Thursday outing.
I actually managed two walks today..one very early before we went out and then another after lunch - a total of 5.6 miles…such a lovely warm day!!
I have tagged it for Wild Flower Week - but that maybe stretching it a bit as I think the flowers are actually hidden at the moment!
