One of my favourite charity shops in town is one called PUSH, I can’t remember what it stands for but it’s an organisation which supports people with learning disabilities, some of whom, work in the shop. It’s a furniture and bric a brac store and they have some amazing bargains. Over the past few months I’ve managed to buy two slow cookers for the family, a fantastic shredder, a Vax steamer and this gorgeous light! All of which have cost me a total of under £70. I spotted this light and I thought it was so pretty and at £7 and split new, I couldn’t resist it! It’s three crystal “flowers” lit by LED’s on a chrome base and it looks fabulous in our lounge. It’s quite heavy and very well made.
Met my friend for coffee and she’s now finished all of her treatments and is hoping to be back to work towards the end of May. Her employer has been quite helpful and they’ve suggested that she phase her return and utilise her accrued annual leave to work a lot less than her usual full time for a few months. It seems a good solution which gives her control over how long she works. She’s in good spirits but deeply frustrated by the inadequacies of her NHS treatment. Her experience has been marred by non return of phone calls when she’s needed answers quickly and being told conflicting information sometimes by the same person. She’s not someone who complains all the time and she’s been very understanding of the demands on clinical staff but she has felt let down far too many times in the past year. I just hope she can put this behind her and focus on staying well now.
