Talking about wolfes.

Recently there was a story about wolves near a settlement - some of my aquitances seemed to think that wolves pose no danger to dog walkers. But on the other hand one of my friends was walking his dog with a sledgehammer in his hand to protect his dog.

In issue 3/2025 of the Finnish Science and Nature magazine, there was an interview with Ilpo Kojola, Emeritus Professor of the Natural Resources Institute Finland:

According to the professor, wolves avoid humans, but when a dog is with them, the situation changes. The wolf may be social or have a mating instinct - in which case the dog is attracted to it. The body language of wolves and dogs is very similar. However, when the dog is domesticated, it has lost its ability to communicate with the wolf. According to the professor, this does not always lead to a good outcome, and the wolf may attack the dog.

A cold day. And the night will be freezing.
Backblipped.
