Under Attack

Seemingly hundreds of tree swallows filled the sky and the branches of a dead ash not far away from this snapped off trunk. It was a beautiful spring evening and bird life demonstrated its excitement to the full. Where will they all find places to nest in?

This pair were under constant attack from incoming raiders. Hard to know if their antics amounted to just play, or not, and anyway the trunk seemed an unlikely nesting spot to fight over.
