My father's tree is blossoming
Beautifully.
My father died in 1982, in a village called Mansel Lacy in Herefordshire. Old friends in India sent my mother this beautiful tree, as only a sapling, for his grave. My mother had a plaque made at the time (Extra) but I noticed recently that that was looking a little old, so I asked someone in the village to refurbish it for us. I had never met this chap, but he kindly agreed, for a small fee, and the results were very rewarding (other Extra), of course.
Well, that same chap, who is one of the churchwardens, sent me the picture of the tree in blossom. It's a real feature of the churchyard and a pleasure to see whenever I manage to visit the grave.
My father was born in Crieff, Perthshire, a rather different place from where he ended up, but I feel that he would have approved.
