Mansefield Memories

East Gate. RVH

The Royal Victoria Hospital's East Gate Lodge in Edinburgh. This was my family home for twenty five years. It was a happy home with lots of children and grandchildren visiting my parents. There are three rooms - a living room with a kitchen in the corner and two big bedrooms. A stone spiral stair with a bathroom halfway down and a storeroom at the foot. the door is under the archway. In the garden my father kept fan tailed pigeons and when it rained the garden became a pond and wild ducks would come to enjoy it.
All these memories are of times long past. Now when I stopped to look at it today I was so sad to see it empty and in need of care and attention. It is a listed building and should be maintained properly.
