Train Depot Bell
Last week I blipped the statue dedicated to the immigrants who settled in this area. Adjacent to Immigrant Park is an old train depot & this old bell that was hung when the station was built, and still hangs outside of it. The depot was built in 1892 by the Chicago & Northwestern Railway. Although the depot was used primarily for freight shipments, many of the immigrants arrived to the area through this very station, & would have heard this bell ringing to signal arrivals & departures of the trains.
