a lifetime burning

Bringing home the bacon

We have starlings nesting in our roof again this year.  While this means that I have to wash my car a little more often than I would like, it is wonderful to know that we are doing something to help support a challenged species.

We've taken down the seed feeders for the time being to deter the pigeons which had been causing a bit of a nuisance of themselves, but I've left up the mealworm feeder to help support the starlings.  They seem to like to toss the mealworms out of the feeders onto the grass below and then descend to collect them before heading back to the nest. I've caught this one taking to the air on the way home.

I seem to have woken up feeling a bit better than yesterday and I'm hoping that I'll be back to normal soon now.
