Less cute than my last blip, but it's quite harmless to humans: a ladder snake, zamenis scalaris, one of the many types of couleuvre. It feeds on small mammals eg mice, and lizards. I found it basking in the middle of the path, and it couldn't be bothered to move, even when I walked quite close to it. Extra: some spotlit blossom in the woods.

I felt so rough yesterday that I ended up staying in bed all day, managing to get as far as the sofa in the evening. I am feeling brighter today; I managed to cook lunch, and went out for a short walk afterwards. It has been a lovely warm day.
