Windflower ( Anemone blanda )

I am not really happy with the common name as all Anemones are called windflower, so the name doesn't really help unless you can see the flower.  After all that is why scientific names have developed.  To illustrate the need for scientific names on a silly scale.  As a boy we were down by the river fishing.  A couple of lads stopped and chatted.  Soon after the "beck watcher" turned up.  After checking our licences he asked about the other two and what they were doing.  We told him they were going "Cushat shooting".  He was blank faced.  He had no idea what they were after.  OK he probably wouldn't have understood if I said they were shooting Columba palumbus, but you get the point.  At least he could have looked up C palumbus he would have had little or no luck on Cushat.

Down in Clickychick's woodland garden the anemones are in full flower.  Now I have got rid of bandages I am able to get into the garden with gloves on.  So the greenhouse has been sorted and the tomato plants will go in tomorrow.
