Grumpy Old Man

At the show

Having stayed overnight with family in Glasgow, Mrs M took me to Dalmuir station this morning where I caught the train to Garelochhead, where I was to take part in the judging at the Scottish Rhododendron Society's annual show - my Blip today. There was a very large number of entries in many categories and the three of us took an hour and a half, maybe more, going through them all.

The hall opened to the public at noon and a great deal of chatting took place, my having attended these shows for many years, 30 or 40 maybe, and catching up with many old friends. My picture was taken before the crowds rushed in - it was a great deal busier and with many more exhibits than are shown here. Later on the prize giving took place - today’s extra - and some time after 2pm the party broke up and MrsM came to collect me and we drove home to Oban, arriving around 4.30.

A good day out - now we have the usual stuff to sort out after a holiday!

Quote of the Day: ‘Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful: a meaningful friend - or a meaningful day.’ -  Dalai Lama.
