Red Mason Bee

Osmia bicornis


I believe this is a male red mason bee. These gentlemen have a white tufts on their heads (vain bunch, these men). They are solitary bees and like to live in hollow tubes.

Now we do have a bug hotel, just above his head, as it happens, but I haven't noticed any residents for a while. Perhaps I should advertise.
