Jazz at The Dean

We’re back in Edinburgh - a one-night visit to hear our oldest grandchild play in her last school jazz evening before she goes off to Uni. I’ve loved coming to this event over the years, when the former church that is now part of the school facilities as The Dean, which in turn is transformed by lightning and layout into a jazz club for the night.

Catriona had a solo spot to play tonight - she performed her university audition piece and I was overcome by a hefty bout of proud grandmotheritis - not just at her playing but at how she’s grown into this composed performer…

I’m really too tired to write more, especially on the phone, so instead iIve cobbled together some photos of that solo moment as well as an ensemble shot. I sat drinking bubbly from a tumbler and feeling overcome… and then we walked back to my older son’s house and ate mezes and drank tea …

And that’s it. A demain!
