Over the Alps heading to Catania

Up EARLY! 3:30 I woke although alarm was set for 4. Lay for a wee while till 3:50.

Good steady drive to the parking at the airport - through security fairly quickly now that the ‘no need to remove the bag of toiletries’ has been implemented. Bought some sun tan lotion and the. We went to Pret for a coffee and pastry at our usual seat overlooking the run way.

Gate details up at 6:30 for the flight at 7:20. As we were all sitting the stewardess announced that it was a light flight today and if anyone wanted to sit elsewhere after takeoff then they could. We already had a row to ourselves anyway - and row 9 seems to have two windows on a Jet2 aeroplane! I never sit at the window I like the aisle but that’s not applicable if I have a row to myself. I was all spread out with stuff it was brilliant. The captain came on and told us that we were flying over the alps soon and would see Mont Blanc on the left hand side so here I got it (I think)! What an amazing sight flying over the snow capped alps is.

We arrived in Catania and because we were 35 mins early and we were first into the passport control we managed to get an earlier bus to Ragusa. Brilliant. The bus took just under two hours to get to Ragusa and then we got a taxi from there to Ragusa Ibla. The old town, a south east Italy Baroque town, which is beautiful.

We were staying in a fabulous Bed and Breakfast in the old town which was set is stunning gardens and also had a pool. Our room had a terrace overlooking the gardens and a fab view over to the hills and part of the old town and Duomo.
We got unpacked , our room was big and also a huge bathroom. It was the last room available here and it was a Junior Suite.

We got ready to go out for a meal as was starving. There was a nice restaurant nearby recommended by Michel the owner of the b and b. When we were there the sky opened and it was impressive thunder and lighting. We had our meal and luckily the rain stopped before we left.

We were exhausted so an early night .
