'Goosegogs' in sugar

My abiding childhood memory is of the gooseberry bushes in the garden, picking them, topping and tailing them and eating them. Clearest of all was the day I slid under them and opened my leg from knee to ankle on the inside which I still bear as scars now over 40 years later! My mother loved gooseberries, and I believe the removal of them was due to the sheer number of times my brother or, more to the point, me went in the bushes.

The Goosegogs are baking in a cake, The recipe came from a site named 'A Girl Called Jack' which is full of cheap and easy things to cook, and she has a book coming out in February! I plan to try many more of her recipes over the coming months.
