Roermond, NL

Roermond was the closest town to RAF Brüggen and when I was stationed there it was the place we most often went to for our shopping and leisure time.  It has grown a great deal since we were last there (2008) and since my first tour at Brüggen in the late 1970s.

It has also achieved a great revival since it was heavily bombed in the Second World War, sitting as it did on an important East-West river crossing.  It was a real pleasure to walk around again, to feel the warmth of the people as well as the sunshine.  The main picture is outside Café Munster on the Munsterplein in the centre; the Extra is of the café's trademark (artificial) flowers.
