Mooring whip
In my quest to find something to blip, my eyes settled on this device. I love the orange color and weathered notches and thought that it was perfectly suited for a macro shot. I chose a different composition to add visual interest and really like the way it turned out.
In case you are wondering, this is part of mooring whip assembly which is a device that keeps a boat away from a dock. Oddly, this particular setup had two different and entirely separate whip brackets side-by-side and neither was used. It seemed odd to have two redundant whips and then use neither. Here is a picture of the setup from a distance. Each bracket should have a fiber glass pole attached and the boat would be tied to ropes attached to the top of the pole. The tension of the pole would keep the boat away from the dock.
