What lies beneath #3...Ancient and Modern
Another grey day on the Tyne, another on-the-way-to-work blip.....it looks like it might be wet and windy by lunchtime. This one was taken in the labyrinthine underpass system under and around Swan House roundabout immediately to the north of the Tyne Bridge. The arch you can see to the right is part of The Holy Jesus Hospital, a 17th century Almshouse which is now only feet away (literally) from from the urban motorway. The underpass isn't quite as dark and threatening as in the blip....I did a bit of tampering while I drank the first coffee of the day....have I ever mentioned I hate Mondays?
