New Library of Birmingham

This is very hush hush at the moment and we have have all been sworn to secrecy - but I don't think I'm giving too much away with a red chair and a white background....
We were lucky enough to be in on the first day of customer testing for the new mega library which opens on 3rd September. It is now the biggest public library in Europe! Compared to the HIDEOUS concrete monstrosity which was the old Central Library - the new one is magnificent. I have already blipped the exterior with its wheel formations, but there are terraces full of plants with view of the city on several floors you can now access from the inside. The kids were very tempted by the gadgets which will be no doubt be well used when all is in working order. There are some Bodleian-esque bookcase stacks around a circular central section and they have rebuilt a room from the original Victorian library on the top floor!
