Entrance to Wither Hills Farm Park
The Wither Hills Farm Park is one of my favourite places in Blenheim. I walk up on the hills frequently and always with a camera at hand. If I am serious I take a DSLR and tripod. Otherwise a small Panasonic Lumix or a Panasonic “bridge” camera will suffice.
The main entrance to the walking tracks is next to a very nice treed car-park. The trees and other plantings are quite young as yet but will provide necessary shade in the future. There is an excellent toilet block as well and bike stands next to a shelter. It is all very well planned and pleasant.
The little kiosks in the entrance-way provide maps and information on up-coming sporting events to be held in the Park. It is a popular area for duathlons, mountain bike races, cross-country running races and the like.
Blenheim South Rotary has had much to do with aspects of the development of the Park. Many years ago they built the “Lookout” on one of the lower spurs. It is quite a landmark with its triangular roof-line and is a haven if caught out in inclement weather. The club have provided attractive landscaping at the entrance way in recent years.
This image shows the little kiosks and some landscaping. The track winding away to the left is the one I usually set out on before dawn when I am heading to my favourite routes for early light photography
If any Blippers visit Marlborough in the future I would be very pleased to take you on a conducted walking and photography trek in the more attractive areas of our Park.
