A woodland giant

Today was a day about trees. In the morning we had a visit from a tree surgeon to advise us on a large Poplar in our garden that is becoming huge. It blocks the light and the view and in the wind looks rather insecure. As we are in a conservation area if we were to remove it we would need permission from the council. The process is similar to applying for planning permission. We will contemplate about what to do.

The picture is taken in the woods at Acorn Bank, a National Trust property quite close by. Last winter they thinned the trees. This tree has been heavily pruned and all around it removed so that it stands in splendid isolation and is quite striking.
