Newhaven harbour - more on a theme

Newhaven was founded by King James IV in 1500 as a royal dockyard. It became the premier oyster port of Scotland from 1572 until the 1890s. Herring was the main stay from the late 18th century - Newhaven becoming the fishmarket for Edinburgh in the late 19th century. The lighthouse dates back to 1869. Hear endeth the history lesson - the water was like glass when I took this picture just after 7am - love the wee yellow boat.
